Animoto

Before my exploration with Animoto and preparing a slideshow about copyright, I was unaware of the extensive laws and rules we ought to follow. On the other hand, I did know that copyright is a very important thing and should not be anything to play around with because the consequences can be severe. However, I did learn that as digital citizens the first and most important rule in regards to copyright is lending credit to work where appropriate. Not only that but having access to information about the use of copyright gave me insight. For example, as citizens of the digital world, we are free to be creative, express our feelings, thoughts, ideas and opinions, but it is also our responsibility to give credit. Notice how I keep writing "give credit where credit is due" that is because a lot of us do not do it and we don't even realize it and that is considered plagiarism. I used to use photos and videos in my presentations and thought referencing only applied to text, but it is not. Referencing applies to all work that is not your own. It is okay to be inspired, however just remember to cite, cite, cite!

Additionally, taking notice of copyright laws and all other laws related to plagiarism is a big contributor to our digital literacy, which, through this activity, I can say I have now mastered. I strongly believe that everyone should be more aware of copyright laws to guarantee that all work done by every single person is respected and protected from misuse and appropriation.

Below is a video about copyright, take a look!
